Arlington County Offers Summer Camps for Kids

Arlington County offers nine sessions of weekly summer camp beginning June 27 and running through the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 2. Times for the sessions vary. Some of the camp content is repeated at each location and different park locations so the camp brochure indicates campers should attend only one session.

Clarendon Farmer’s Market Season Opens

The Clarendon Farmer’s Market at Courthouse slipped into its summer season amidst the raindrops on Saturday, April 2. Chester Beahm has driven 60 miles from Rivington, Va. to open his cheese stand at 8 a.m. Fields of Grace Farm offers four aged cheeses, four flavored cheese curds, two flavors of mozzarella, feta and more.

Arlington Snapshot: ‘The True Adventures of Pinocchio’ To Open Thursday

“The True Adventures of Pinocchio,” the Yorktown spring production, will be staged March 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m., with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. on March 12. Tickets are $10 at the door and are available at yhstheatre.org/pinocchio. Premium tickets with reserved seating are $50 each, and there is a 6 p.m. pre-show dinner cafe for $10. On Saturday, March 12, there will be an ice cream social with the cast immediately following the matinee, at a cost of $3.

Hula Girl Brings Taste of Hawaii to Shirlington

What started as a food truck has blossomed into a full-fledged restaurant giving Hawaiians – and Hawaiian food fans – a taste of home.

Northern Virginia is home to innumerable cuisines. Salvadoran, Korean, Vietnamese, Southern barbecue, Ethiopian … the list goes on and on. But there’s been a dearth of Hawaiian cuisine in the region — until Hula Girl’s grand opening in Shirlington changed that.
