County Tackles Food Security with New Round of Grants
The Arlington County Department of Human Services (DHS) announced June 3 a second round of grants aimed at improving food security in Arlington. The funding will be available to area 501(c)(3) organizations, faith-based groups and schools and universities that support aspects of Arlington’s Food Security Strategic Plan, with the maximum grant award $25,000.
Arlington Jury Convicts James Ray Williams of Murder in the Death of Sean Bowman
On Friday night, June 7, 2024, after a four-day trial, an Arlington jury found James R. Williams guilty of the March 25, 2023, murder of Sean Bowman. The jury also convicted Williams of using a firearm in the commission of the murder.

It’s a short one kilometer route that turns sharp corners at Clarendon, Wilson, and Washington Boulevards — one hundred times. That is what makes the Armed Forces Cycling Classic (AFCC) so challenging. The 100 km race goes around 300 corners, each time potentially ending in a crash, as happened a few times on Sunday.

Guest House Celebrates 50 Years
It all began in 1975 with one woman’s dream to help women returning into society from prison who had committed nonviolent crimes. At the time there was no place for them to go and still today, Guest House is the only residential facility for these women in Northern Virginia.

County Manager Proposes $4.5 Billion 10-Year Capital Improvement Plan
Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz presented his proposed FY 2025–2034 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the Arlington County Board on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The proposal outlines $4.5 billion in investments for stormwater management and flood mitigation, environmental resilience, parks, transportation, community infrastructure, and more over the next 10 years.
